Of course, again, we had a wonderful discussion on Monday, February 7, 2022. Jo Ann, Dan, Robin, Nadine, Karen, David, Dave, Odette, Joel, and Merill attended.
We decided to read 1st and 2nd Corinthians after we complete the book of James. (We only have one more chapter in James to study now.) We’ll leave Revelation for another time.
Below is a summary of what we studied written by Dan:
We studied the fourth chapter of the book of James from the New Testament.
Parts of the chapter seemed harsh and judgmental, which seemed to be some form of hyperbole. The section changed from condemnation to “grace”, which ended with the words “humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord and He will lift you up.”
"Do not boast about tomorrow" is a major admonition we spent some time discussing, citing various sources for comment. A favorite was “man plans, God laughs.” The milkman Tevye from Fiddler on the Roof seemed to agree.
We had a lengthy discussion about children and the importance of both teaching and being an example of good morals and manners to them.
Joel talked about how young people today have so much that they forget to be grateful for what they have and want more and more.
Jo Ann, Karen and Dan sang the song “Humble Thyself in the sight of the Lord” near the end of the study.
Again, add anything to this summary.
